"Storms That Have Been Chased" -------Episode 10: Aug 16th Greeley Struck Down

Here is the breakdown of pics from this incredible day!

This storm was an all out storm that took place over a few cells passing over Greeley. First with a cell creating a mini meso lasting only for moments till the shear outflow dominated and pushed the first cell off to the northeast.....other cells developed along the boundary extending all the way down into DIA. Staying close to home was the obvious way to catch some awestruck lightning. The next event of cells passing over were a lot more mellow and it was like watching War of the Worlds (new version) as the CG's struck continuously all around my apartment! I was not gonna go venture out like a hyenna.
I chased from my own window....it was peaceful and illuminately exciting.....yes illuminately is a word now.....

A Severe Moment

Today in Greeley, scattered thunderstorms rolled through with severe warnings put out due to high winds reported. I went out to take some lightning photos...and watched the storm brew eastward continuously...it was enjoyable to a local!
